Habits of Top Real Estate Agents
Every successful business owner has a schedule. A real estate agent is generally always an independent contractor/business owner/entrepreneur. But how does someone keep a schedule when a client could call at any moment and want to see the latest property?
Successful agents have full schedules and goals. They have a driving force in their lives to push them through difficult days by understanding what it is exactly that they are working toward.
The most successful real estate agents start their days with some sort of physical activity. This sets their brains on the right path to organization and happiness, not to mention improving their overall health to deal with hectic schedules.
Time blocking is a key element to successful real estate agents. Remember the last minute client? Successful real estate agents will schedule in holes in their day that are made for this type of appointment.
Lead generation is an important part of a real estate agent's long term success; this must be time blocked as well. The top agents will block a minimum two hours per day for this activity. The activities to create the results can be different - working on their database, contacting past clients, creating mailings, setting up drip campaigns, door knocking a neighborhood, asking lenders and partners for referrals, or making sure an assistant has this task handled.
Being kind. This may seem like a simple element but successful agents are most often kind to other agents. They have longevity in the business because other agents enjoy working with them. Agents who work hard do not need to fight with other agents. Often these angst-filled agents haven't worked very hard and need to prove their worth by looking like they are fighting for their clients.
Giving back to their community is on the schedule. Agents who intend to stay in the business for a long time do this willingly and with two purposes; improving their communities and improving themselves.
Being responsive to other agents, clients, and potential clients is also built into their schedule. It may not be immediate but it does not take days to get a response. Nothing is more frustrating that trying to reach your agent in what feels like an emergency situation (and all of them do when you are looking for, buying, or selling a house).
Family and personal time also makes the schedule. Agents who do not schedule this time will hurt themselves in the long run by burning out or watching their family life crumble.
If you are an agent, look at your own schedule. Does it contain all of these elements? Don't look to your company, lead service, etc. to create a full schedule and a full life - schedule your activities.
If you are a potential client looking for an agent, look for these traits in your agent because a well-rounded agent will take the best care of you. Goodness knows you can find just about anything out on Facebook about your agent and their life so use it!
